Jonathan Pruitt has been named incoming President and CEO for Research Triangle Foundation of NC. Currently, Jonathan serves as Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer for The University of Texas System, since March 2022, overseeing financial operations across the System’s nine academic institutions, four health institutions and System Administration.

He directs the preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based upon UT System strategic goals and growth objectives; directs all debt financing for the System, manages the Permanent University Fund (PUF) lands, supervises UT System employee benefit and risk management programs, and manages shared services functions. Pruitt oversees management of the following System Administration offices: Finance, Budget and Planning, Controller, Supply Chain, Employee Benefits, Information and Technology Services, Risk Management, Talent and Innovation, Capital Projects, HUB Programs, Real Estate and University Lands.

Prior to joining UT System, Pruitt held senior leadership positions in public higher education finance and operations at both the campus and system administration levels at the University of North Carolina (UNC-Chapel Hill), most recently as Chief Operating Officer of the University of North Carolina System (UNC System). During his almost 20-year tenure at the UNC System, Pruitt was the primary strategic advisor to the System President and oversaw UNC System business affairs.

Pruitt began his career in the Kentucky Governor’s Office for Policy and Management and Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.

Pruitt holds a bachelor’s degree from Centre College and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kentucky. He is currently a board member of the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities (APLU) and serves as chairman of its Audit Committee.
