The build-your-own bowl concept puts a fresh spin on comfort food, featuring whole ingredients and free from seed oils, refined sugars, gluten, dairy and corn.
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (October 6, 2026) — Little Barrow, a new dining concept built around healthy comfort-food bowls, will open its first location at Horseshoe at Hub RTP, a daily destination for dining, community and recreation in the heart of Research Triangle Park’s vibrant new downtown destination. The restaurant has signed a lease for 2,482 square feet at 3151 Elion Dr., positioned across the paseo from Cheeni Indian Food Emporium, with sweeping views of the Horseshoe courtyard and Burdens Creek boardwalk.
Little Barrow’s menu centers on build-your-own grain bowls made with high-quality, whole ingredients free from seed oils, refined sugars, gluten and mostly free of dairy. Guests can build bowls starting with bases like brown rice, Persian rice, cauliflower fried rice and sweet potato noodles. Fresh sides like Brussels sprouts, charred broccoli and gluten free mac and cheese are added next, followed by proteins like baked chicken fingers, charred date BBQ chicken, maple-Dijon crispy tofu, sirloin steak strips and miso salmon bites. Each bowl will include flavorful sauces with optional add-ons, allergen free desserts and drinks. The menu offers options that fit a range of dietary preferences without sacrificing flavor, with catering also available for gatherings, meetings and events.
“Most health-focused food leaves you wanting more, while most filling meals come with a trade-off in processed ingredients, unhealthy oils and hidden sugars. Little Barrow was created to prove that you can have it all: bold, satisfying and substantive food served quickly, that’s also incredibly good for you,” said Bruce Kramer, founder of Little Barrow. “We look forward to debuting this simple but transformative concept in a center of innovation and ideas like Horseshoe and all of Research Triangle Park.”Bruce is a Durham resident and entrepreneur whose professional career has spanned managing high profile retail stores in NYC to footwear production at Ralph Lauren to creating innovative, patented, footwear products as an entrepreneur. His own personal health journey involved trading out food allergens and refined sugar for healthier options, but he still wanted to enjoy all of the food he enjoyed prior so he will re-create those dishes in a whimsical and fun quick-serve environment while guests feel good about what they’re eating and feel good after eating it.
“Little Barrow will bring a vibrant new quick-service option for lunch and dinner to RTP and the surrounding communities,” said Erik Johnson, founding partner of White Point, Horseshoe’s development partner. “This new concept adds something unique to the dining mix at Horseshoe, giving people another convenient option that doesn’t compromise on fresh, wholesome ingredients or flavor. We’re excited to continue building out an offering that gives the RTP community more reasons to stay, gather and enjoy the district throughout the day.”
Little Barrow is the latest retailer to commit to Horseshoe, the Class A office-over-retail development that serves as the central gathering place of Hub RTP, the Park’s 100-acre downtown destination. Expected to open in 2027, Little Barrow will join a growing roster of tenants, including Cheeni Indian Food Emporium, Di Fara Pizza Tavern (opening in early fall), DRIFT Coffee & Kitchen, JETSET Pilates, High Horse (opening this fall), Nanny Goat and Prime STQ (opening in 2027). With the Burdens Creek boardwalk, a live music stage featuring North Carolina artists and national acts, and RTP’s 20 miles of walking, biking and hiking trails all within easy reach, Little Barrow will be well-positioned to serve the growing community of workers, residents and visitors at Hub RTP.
Located at 3151 Elion Dr., Horseshoe has 78,000 square feet of Class A office space and 7,500 square feet of retail space remaining available for lease. For more information, visit horseshoertp.com and follow @horseshoertp on Instagram.
