Each year, RTF staff works to survey all the companies in Research Triangle Park. This is no small task when you consider there are more than 260 companies that call RTP home! Over the years, we’ve seen a shift in company demographics. In the past, the company landscape was comprised mainly of large, corporate campuses employing thousands of workers. Today, however, we have a growing number of small companies in addition to the larger corporations like IBM and Cisco.
It’s exciting to see diversity growing in not just the size of companies, but also in industry sectors. While IT and Life Science remain our top two business categories, we’ve seen an increase in Education and Service Providers. As the development at Park Center continues to move forward, we expect to see continued growth in Service Providers as the retail and restaurant hub becomes more established.
