The Research Triangle Park’s new development, Park Center, was recently named ULI Triangle’s 2016 Idea Award recipient! At the awards ceremony held at the North Carolina Museum of Art on Thursday night, RTP President and CEO Bob Geolas accepted the award on behalf of the RTP Board of Directors and staff.
The Idea Award honors ideas, plans or designs that have not yet been enacted, but that will positively impact the Triangle community.
Park Center will be the future of the Research Triangle Park. It is here that RTP will create an area of density that does not currently exist within the Park’s 7,000 acres. This is where the innovators and dreamers of tomorrow will come to be inspired, where leaders in technology, science, the arts and the humanities will collaborate and create a better future for all North Carolinians. The space will not only include retail, residential and office amenities, but also a plethora of public parks and spaces that can be used by all the people of North Carolina.
The land at Park Center was purchased in December 2013, and a master plan has been created for the 100-acre piece of property. RTP is currently in the pre-development stages of the project, with construction planned to begin soon.
