To implement RTP 3.0 — RTP's most recent long-range planning effort — the Research Triangle Foundation, in partnership with Durham County and the RTP Owners & Tenants Association, is proposing to rezone the part of Research Triangle Park in Durham County.
If approved by the Durham County Board of Commissioners, this rezoning will allow for new types of development in RTP, including residential, retail, non-research commercial, and other uses. By allowing these types of development, this rezoning will enable RTP to develop in ways similar to its national and global peers.
As a part of this rezoning process, RTF will host a neighborhood meeting to ensure that nearby property owners are informed about the proposed rezoning and its potential impact, and to gather resident input on the proposal. This meeting will be held on September 11, 2025, from 6 to 7 p.m.
