Nanny Goat Will Be Waas’ Second Concept Within Horseshoe at Hub RTP
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (Jan. 14, 2025) – Horseshoe at Hub RTP is thrilled to announce a second concept coming to the transformational mixed-use development from two-time James Beard Award-nominated chef, Preeti Waas. Waas and her team will open Nanny Goat, a neighborhood market with convenient, fine-quality goods, that will include fresh produce grab-and-go bites and artisan gifts, both locally sourced and imported.
“We’ve created Nanny Goat to be the go-to-market and shop within Hub RTP,” says Waas. “Our ‘boutique bodega’ of sundries, fresh flowers, and bread and pastries from local bakers will ensure the Horseshoe lobby is a charming destination, not just a space to pass through. The offerings will encompass products from all local makers, including savory and sweet pastries from Chef Tie Whittaker of Buttermilk Boutique, breads with a global twist from Breadwaala and cookies from our own bakery, Sugar & Spice Kitchen.”
Nanny Goat will be located in a 980-square-foot space of the Horseshoe lobby at 3151 Elion Dr, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The market will provide easy and convenient access for Hub RTP employees, residents and visitors. Located adjacent to Cheeni, Waas’ first concept at Horseshoe, the bodega and restaurant will share a kitchen and prep space.
“Nanny Goat exhibits the perfect use for our lobby space at Horseshoe, elevating it to a destination and community builder for not only people who work in the offices above but also those who live and work in the surrounding Research Triangle Park (RTP) communities and the food artisans Waas will support,” says Erik Johnson, co-founder of White Point, the developer of Horseshoe at Hub RTP.
Nanny Goat is named after the female goat who watches over her herd. Waas also drew inspiration from the Nanny Goat Market in Philadelphia, which served as a refuge and gathering space for Irish immigrants in the 1800s, before it burned during riots.
“We will support local, micro-businesses owned by immigrants by providing kitchen space at our commissary in Durham and an outlet for the sale of their pre-packaged specialty goods at Nanny Goat. In this way, we very much echo the sentiment of the original Nanny Goat building, providing access to all who aspire to launch and grow their businesses, whether their product is food, art or gifts,” says Waas.
Nanny Goat is the fourth tenant to sign a lease, following Cheeni, Drift Coffee & Kitchen and
Prime STQ. Charlie Coyne (charlie.coyne@cbre.com) and Tiffany Barrier (tiffany.barrier@cbre.com) represented Horseshoe, while Liv Jorgenson and Bruce Alexander of Maverick Partners represented Nanny Goat. Maurer Architecture is the architect and Gateway Building Co. is the general contractor. Follow @nannygoatrtp and @horseshoertp on Instagram for updates.
