We are pleased to announce that The Archive is now open at The Frontier! The Archive is a miniature library that is available for anyone to use. Located off of HomeBase (back towards the bathrooms and kitchenette), we hope this little library will add some literary spice to your life. Currently, The Archive includes books in the categories of Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Professional Reference.

Our team is also still accepting book donations while we continue growing this collection. If you would like to contribute, please leave book donations in the box outside of Amanda Frystock’s office at The Frontier.

To kick off this new program, we asked Research Triangle Foundation employees what their favorite books are. Here is what they said:

However, after learning what an accomplished career Andy had as a news producer, I really started to respect him more. I had no idea that the man making me laugh on "Watch What Happens Live" had worked with Dan Rather and interviewed everyone from Susan Lucci and Oprah."- Julie Terry, Marketing & Special Projects Manageroriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 317height 475"This book is about how French people raise their children to be autonomous and emotionally stable people, but I have gleaned a lot from it in how I approach customer service and operations at The Frontier. The cadre (boundaries) are firm, but within the boundaries people can do as they please." -Jacob Newbauer, Community Manageroriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 265height 400"I really liked this book because it is based on studies of thousands of managers. The ideas about leadership really struck me, including ideas around conventional wisdom and the way we currently motivate/operate within the employee/employer relationship. Also the difference between a manager and a leader. Books can teach us so much!"- Lindsay Smithberger, Department Coordinatororiginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 316height 475"This was such a gripping book that I didn’t want to put it down. It is a coming of age story about the journey of a girl/woman throughout her life and the trials and tribulations she goes through." -Michelle Stiles, Controlleroriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 291height 475"I am picking my way through this in preparation for my Eisenhower Fellowship in Sweden. Why Sweden and why this book? Read my blog for more: www.masonailstock.com." -Mason Ailstock, Chief Operating Officeroriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 309height 475"I came across this book as a young adult, and it was unlike anything I had ever read. The imagery gave me a child-like sensation of experiencing everything for the first time again. This book taught me that in a society that asks us to conform, individuality is essential. This book dares the reader to be different." -Vanessa Springs, Office Internoriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 289height 475"This fantasy novel has crazy themes in the root of good vs. evil (seeing good in everything evil and trying to understand the underlying issues) and the power of strong friendships. AWESOME read!" -Abby Gingrich, Business Development Coordinatororiginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 272height 400"I read this true story during a challenging time in my life. Its not a book I’d typically pick up, but I could really relate to the author in a lot of ways. Her journey hiking the Pacific Crest Trail was very inspiring, and her inner journey to find herself even more-so. My friends and I felt so empowered by this book, I would encourage anyone and everyone to read it!" -Nicole Taylor, Internoriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMheight 475width 311orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS3 "This is the greatest book I ever read. It finds this really neat time in US History for a story about going against the mainstream – post World War II. While everyone else was conforming, the Beatniks were creating something different and unique. Plus, their travels and escapades were really amusing, even if they weren’t completely factual." -Brett Benton , STEM Mentoring Project Directororiginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 318height 414"I love anything by Sandra Boynton…she is hilarious!" -Tatiana Jenkins, AmeriCorps Vistaoriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 318height 318"The ultimate coming of age novel; it is a culture rich tale of real family issues, how far some will go to try to escape their families, and how ultimately the idea of home is something that means so much more than we can put into words. Smith is a master at her craft as she switches perspective with ease & authenticity. It will make you laugh, cry, and think." -Tatiana Jenkins, AmeriCorps Vistaoriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 307height 475"It is a simplistic story about the animals on a farm but is delivered in such a poetic and entrancing way. I love the place she creates in the story and how she tells it. My kids had to tell me to stop reading it to them… many times." -Brett Benton , STEM Mentoring Project Directororiginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 318height 376Recommended by Lindsay Smithberger, Department Coordinatororiginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 315height 475"This has got to be one of the greatest love stories of all time. The strength and bravery Hazel and Augustus show while fighting grim diagnoses is inspiring. And although their love was tragic, they had a truly beautiful relationship. ‘Some infinities are bigger than other infinities. I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity.’"- Nicole Taylor, Internoriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 300height 463Recommended by Julie Terry, Marketing & Special Projects Manageroriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMheight 463width 300orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS3 "I like this book because it starts off with the main character doing what we all (secretly) love doing…people watching! It then takes a crazy turn. I think the moral of the story is that things are not always how they seem at face value. This is a great quick read, because you will want to know what happens next and you won’t be able to put it down." -Amanda Frystock, Events Manageroriginaldate 1/1/0001 6:00:00 AMwidth 265height 400
