What is RTP?

For nearly 60 years The Research Triangle Park has served as the economic heart of North Carolina. With more than 200 companies employing nearly 50,000 people, the RTP is a leader in the research, development, technology and life science industries.  While tech giants like IBM and Cisco have been in RTP for many years, startup companies and smaller outfits comprise more than 50% of the companies in the Park.

Originally known as the birthplace of Astroturf and Taxol, companies in RTP today continue making waves with biologically grown bricks and cutting-edge server technology. Even as the innovations change, RTP’s strong connections to local research universities remains the same. With three Tier 1 research institutions within miles of the Park, companies have access to top talent and graduates have the ability to start their careers in a wide variety of industries.
