Research Triangle Park, NC—October 24, 2018—The Research Triangle Foundation (RTF) is pleased to announce that Kristie VanAuken has joined the team as vice president, stakeholder engagement, effective immediately. In this new role, she will primarily work to strategically position the Park through strengthening RTP tenant, university and regional partner relationships.
VanAuken joins the Research Triangle Foundation with more than 22 years of experience in strategic and community partnership cultivation in the aviation/airport industry, most recently as vice president, communications and community affairs for the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. Before that, VanAuken worked for airports and economic development agencies in the greater Akron, Ohio region.
“We are delighted to welcome Kristie to the Foundation team,” said RTF president and CEO Scott Levitan. “She has the experience and reputation we were seeking to enhance key relationships and build new ones with companies in the Research Triangle Park, our university partners, and with regional leaders. We can’t wait for her to get started.”
In addition to strengthening relationships, VanAuken will help the marketing and communications team evolve the RTP story, help differentiate and reinforce RTP as a leader in creating and cultivating science and technology parks, lead and staff the RTP owners and tenants association, administer the RTP special tax district and coordinate its activities with the governing Durham and Wake counties. She will also serve as the key staff member for both the TUCASI and the RTP Charitable Fund. Finally, VanAuken will supervise the award-winning STEM in the Park program director and team.
VanAuken lives with her husband and two teenage children in Cary, North Carolina. She enjoys working in a fast paced-environment, training for triathlons, family dinners and attending her kids’ various school events.
