The Research Triangle Park

RTP BOARD MEMBERS NET RECOGNITION, AWARDS

By Subscriber Jun 30, 2014

The Research Triangle Park is overseen by an active panel of board members. Recently, some of them have been garnering awards and recognition.

Richard “Dick” Daugherty, a former senior executive at IBM, a longtime champion of NCSU’s Centennial Campus, and a driving force behind the new strategic plan for Research Triangle Park, is among the latest inductees for the Raleigh “Hall of Fame.”

A civic leader, volunteer and community-member, Daugherty is being recognized to the Hall of Fame for several reasons. In his time at IBM, he committed to growing IBM’s RTP presence upwards towards 12,000. In Raleigh, he helped realize the vision of Centennial Campus by championing its growth.

But Daugherty isn’t the only RTP board members racking up recognition.

The 2014 TBJ Life Science Award was recently granted to our chair, Bob Ingram, a former GSK executive. The life sciences field represents a number of focus areas, including biology, biotechnology, genomics, neuroscience, pharmacology and many others.

Life science is representative of one of RTP’s greatest strengths – its biotechnology sector – and this is a significant achievement.
