RTP 180: Millennials
Oct. 15, The Frontier
Millennials, that not-so-small group of people born between 1980 & the mid-2000s, are moving into the workforce and starting to have an impact on society. This group is the largest generation in the U.S., and not only the most diverse, but also the most educated. For non-Millennials, their texting ways and willingness to work from anywhere can seem a bit strange. At this RTP 180, it’s our hope to shed some light on the ways and habits of this ever important group.

Institution & the Wild: Salvaging & Sorting Traditional Meds in China
Oct. 8th, National Humanities Center
This discussion considers the relations in practice between grassroots medical institution-building and the healing powers that both inform it and evade it. China has a distinguished modern history of supporting its national heritage of traditional medical knowledge. Recently, research has focused on traditional medicine of the minority nationalities of China. This “multicultural” process expresses particular features of Chinese state power as it engages and manages local variation. And it reveals many forms of life that escape nation-state projects.
