Mrs. Brown Black graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with bachelor degrees in both English and Political Science. Mrs. Brown Black then graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law. During her law school tenure she had prestigious internships. She worked in New Jersey at the law firm of Brown and Childress where she practiced employment law. Mrs. Brown Black also worked in Florida for the law firm of Gary, Williams, Parenti, Lewis, McManus, Watson and Sperando where she practiced civil litigation.
After becoming a member of the North Carolina State Bar in 2002, She began working at the Public Defender’s office for the 14th judicial district and since 2003 has been engaged in private practice in Durham and surrounding counties. She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, 14th Judicial State Bar, United States District Bar – Middle District, and United States District Bar – Eastern District.
