UNITED WAY S.P.A.R.C. PROGRAM (Strong Partnerships Activating Real Change)
United Way of the Greater Triangle recognizes the need to identify, recruit and place diverse leaders from the Greater Triangle into policy making roles to enhance the effectiveness of nonprofit agencies in our community.
What is SPARC?
United Way’s SPARC Program is a 6-week, 12-hour training program being offered in the spring of 2015. It is designed to develop and enhance leadership skills and increase diverse volunteer participation in nonprofit board and leadership positions in the Greater Triangle community. SPARC gives participants the tools to serve as effective board members of local nonprofit agencies. Workshops include nonprofit 101, board and staff roles and responsibilities, fundraising, and ethical and legal decision making. Applications are solicited community-wide. The selection committee reviews applications and selects no more than 25 individuals per class. The selection criteria are designed to recruit a group of demonstrated leaders who are diverse in their ethnicity, profession and community service.
