Extra Life is a 24-hour gaming marathon taking place on Saturday, November 7, 2015 that aims to raise money and awareness for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Extra Life began in 2008 when a video game enthusiast in Texas wanted to raise money in memory of his friend Tori who passed away from leukemia. Today, Extra Life is an international fundraiser that has raised over $12,000,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center in Durham, NC is the local CMN Hospital for the Triangle, Triad, and Wilmington areas. Money raised through fundraisers like Extra Life supports a wide range of programs at Duke Children’s. From music therapy and art programs to funding for Camp Kaleidoscope, a summer camp for Duke Children’s patients, your support is vital to ensure Duke Children's remains a special place for kids to get better faster.
Registration is free and open to all ages. Participants can play any type of game – video games, tabletop games, board games, outdoor games like soccer, or games on your cell phone, just to name a few. Though the marathon is 24 hours, participants are not required to game for the entire time. Participants also have the luxury of gaming from the comfort of their home or a friend’s house, or they can choose to join the RDU Guild at The Frontier at RTP for a group experience. REGISTER
