Research Triangle Park
Innovation in RTP series
Speaker: Gene Pease, CEO, Capital Analytics
Topic: Data Analytics in the HR Realm
Companies finding their footing in a challenging economic climate recognize that intangible assets make up the bulk of their balance sheets. Those organizations that are growing and thriving — the likes of Google, for example — are using statistics to analyze and improve investments in their most important asset: their people. While investments in people have traditionally been considered too soft to measure in the way other corporate investments are evaluated, this belief is rapidly shifting. With the rise in data collection and computing power, HR has begun to apply analytic practices that are applied in other disciplines (e.g. marketing, supply chain management, and finance). The art of HR is being replaced by science, and top executives are beginning to demand increasing levels of rigor in measurement of human capital. The true power of measuring human capital lies in predictive analytics: understanding how the investment can be improved for optimal impact. Capital Analytics began applying predictive analytics to people investments 2004, when there was not a clear market for the service. Co-founder and CEO Gene Pease will share the company's 8-year journey defining and leading the market.
