The North Carolina chapter of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association has been awarding scholarships and grants throughout the state to teachers and students pursuing an education in STEM related fields. Since 2008, they have raised more than $250k for program entities across North Carolina.
This year, they'll be holding a golf tournament to futher their support efforts. Called 3Day4Science, the event aims to promote the need for STEM education throughout the state.
This year, all of North Carolina is invited to participate in the 2013 Gravity Games, behind held in conjunction with North Carolina Science Week! The 2013 Games are the signature event of this year's event, and are taking place in Lenoir, where a Google Data Center is located. Get in on the action by joining Google + Hangout sessions, and submitting questions to Appalachian State University professors in order to improve on your car's design.

Arranged by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, several major VCs are coming to the RTP area to look for solutions to the world's disease and health concerns. In addition for the chance to talk one-on-one, attendees can learn how foundation funding can fuel product development.

American Underground, in partnership with Cherokee Partners (of Raleigh) is hosting an information jam session in conjunction with the MegaWatt Ventures Cleantech Challenge.
This means a $100,000 prize – for the winning clean tech SMB startup. Applying teams must have a student employed by their venture.

US Department of Energy Sponsored Cleantech Business Competition
Triangle Startup Factory and NC State University will host the inaugural “Triangle.edu” event at the College of Textiles on NCSU’s Centennial Campus on January 16th. The event will feature speakers from the Triangle entrepreneurial community who will describe their personal journeys into entrepreneurship. There will be speakers from disciplines such as executive management, technical development, marketing and sales.
