Park Life

The New York Times recently dubbed the Triangle as the state of North Carolina’s “axis of cool.” We won’t argue with the experts.

The Triangle, which gets its name from the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill cluster, is the state’s second largest metropolitan area with an estimated 1.6 million residents. In addition to its concentration of renowned universities and sports rivalries, beautiful scenery and foodie finds, the Triangle is often hailed for its concentration of post-graduate degrees and the creative class.

Centrally located at the heart of the Triangle is the Research Triangle Park. Employing over 38,000 local residents, the RTP's strong global brand is not limited to technology and innovation assets - the renowned brand extends to the personality and appeal of the Park. Differentiated by its green open space and natural setting, the Park’s space, greenways and trails attract employees and the residents of the surrounding community to the enjoy the outdoors. With over 16 miles of jogging and pedestrian trails, a 2-mile mountain bike trail, 4 softball fields and multiple and and grass volleyball courts, one can enjoy several parks within the Park.

As a work environment, RTP offers an array of opportunities to enrich the week, from professional and networking events to social activities and recreation.

Park Updates

The Durham-Wake Research and Production Service District, the special tax district for RTP, uses property tax revenue to provide infrastructure such as the pedestrian trails, the mountain bike trails, recreation facilities (softball fields, volleyball courts), roadside landscaping, etc.
