Building a Community

The Research Triangle Park offers its employers and employees a vast array of @rtp programs and events, adding to the collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit of RTP. 

Community Outreach@rtp was formed in the summer of 2008 to ensure that RTP companies add to their distinguished position as leaders in a world renowned science park with a reputation as leaders in corporate social responsibility.  The committee hopes to provide opportunities for individuals and companies to volunteer/participate in outreach activities and to enable O&T members to build or strengthen (individually or collaboratively) outreach champions and initiatives.

Environment@rtp is a committee of The Research Triangle Park Owners & Tenants Association created to address environmental issues in RTP in the areas of air, water, waste and wildlife habitat management.  RTP is a Wildlife and Industry Together (W.A.I.T.) certified site.  The wildlife program includes bluebird, purple martin, and bat boxes along pedestrian trails, a tree identification trail along Davis Drive (currently closed due to construction), butterfly gardens, and lunchtime nature hikes.  The committee sponsors a biannual Electronics Recycling Day for employees of Park companies that has collected over 175 tons of recyclable electronics since 2004.

  

 

 

SmartCommute@rtp is the Transportation Management Association for RTP whose mission is to address common transportation concerns, reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality.  It is a committee of The Research Triangle Park Owners & Tenants Association that provides alternative transportation and air quality information to Park employers and employees. 

SmartCommute@rtp helps coordinate the annual SmartCommute Challenge - a campaign whose goal is to increase awareness of commuter choices and to encourage employees to try a commute alternative such as teleworking, carpooling, vanpooling, riding the bus, biking and walking to work.

Techie Tuesdays@rtp are free bimonthly events for RTP employees that provide an opportunity for networking and collaboration.
