The community spirit within The Research Triangle Park (RTP) has inspired the RTP Owners & Tenants Association (O&T) to create several programs that reflect the interests of RTP companies and employees. The O&T works with RTP support staff to give voice to pertinent issues and to create a sense of community through several committees and programs, all adding to the collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit of RTP.
The O&T meets quarterly to discuss issues that are of concern to RTP companies. O&T approves any changes of the restrictive covenants and makes recommendations to the Durham & Wake Boards of County Commissioners for the appointment of ten members to the Durham-Wake Counties Research and Production Service District. The Service District funds RTP amenities such as paved trails, playing fields, mountain bike trails, beautification efforts and the @rtp programs.
The Association also appoints three members to the RTP Board of Design. The Board of Design helps to ensure the aesthetic quality of RTP and has the authority to approve any new construction or exterior alteration of buildings, utilities, signs, pavements, landscaping and other facilities within the boundaries of the Park.
